Cathedral of Messina, Sicily




This Cathedral is absolutely beautiful, built in the 12th century. It was to be built again after the 1908 earthquake and the bombings in 1943.

It is the home to the remains of Conrad, King of German and Sicily back in the 13th century and the bell tower also hold the biggest astronomical clock in the world.

The restorations from the different era's make the cathedral more interesting as different parts follow different trends over the years. The original having nomadic influences followed by a gothic facade and then there are the reconstructed mosaics.....
