St. Thomas Episcopal Parish church

The church was completed in 1914, displaying the classic gothic style from the french medieval period. The fascinating thing about this church is the fact that it is stone built upon stone. No steel reinforcements are used as Cram followed with the developments of architecture making it possible to keep the structure upright.

It is situation right in the heart of a busy typical street, in New York, emphasising how religion can be seen as a little out of place (literally and symbolically) but still popular in everyday life giving faith and hope to the modern age.

Cathedral of Messina, Sicily

This Cathedral is absolutely beautiful, built in the 12th century. It was to be built again after the 1908 earthquake and the bombings in 1943.

It is the home to the remains of Conrad, King of German and Sicily back in the 13th century and the bell tower also hold the biggest astronomical clock in the world.

The restorations from the different era's make the cathedral more interesting as different parts follow different trends over the years. The original having nomadic influences followed by a gothic facade and then there are the reconstructed mosaics.....
